New College of Florida is open for classes this week following a deadly plane crash over the weekend.
The crash, which claimed the life of the pilot and left a passenger in critical condition, occurred Saturday when the single engine Seawind 3000 went down on the Sarasota campus.
No students of faculty were injured and no buildings were damaged, according to a written statement.
Officials from the National Transportation Safety Board are still not sure why the plane crashed, but that it went down shortly after taking off from the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, the statement said.
