New Zero Electric Motorcycles for 2013

The electric fever has touched the automotive industry in more ways than you could even imagine. The world of motorcycling is currently undergoing a conversion from rumbling, smoky, non-economic engines to environmentally friendly propulsion systems. Now, Zero Motorcycles, one of the most fabled manufacturers of electric two-wheelers, has recently presented their new bikes for 2013.

The purposes of their newest creations are more power, higher speed and better fuel efficiency. The vehicles in this brand new series, the Zero MX for dirt tracks, the powerful Zero DS, the Zero XU for beginners, the 2013 Zero FX and the two-seater Zero S, will reportedly reach maximum speeds of around 95 mph (153 km/h) and will achieve ranges of up to 100 miles.

As you have read above, each model is destined for an individual purpose. For example, the beginners? bike Zero XU sports a 28 HP engine that can reach top speeds of around 77 mph (124 km/h) and can reach ranges of up to 70 miles. The Zero MX, which is quite similar in appearance to the previous, has been equipped with mud fenders, stiffer shocks and knobby tires, being specifically destined to be used on dirt surfaces.

It sports a bigger engine than the XU, though, being able to deliver 54 HP and reaching a maximum speed of 84 mph (135 km/h) on dusty roads. And there?s the Zero S, a stunning two-seater motorcycle which will actually be one of the top electric bikes in the world. It can reach top speeds of 95 mph (153 km/h) and, if driven carefully and not too fast, ranges of up to 137 miles in cities.

In terms of costs, the figures are fortunately not as high as we expected. For example, the Zero XU, the least costly of the lot, will reportedly start at $7,995, while the Zero DS and Zero S will go as high as $13,995.
